A classically trained actor and former street juggler, David Kovac specializes in combining sophisticated humor with cleverly crafted magic routines. Thoughtful, articulate and with perfect comic precision, Mr. Kovac conjures up wonderfully entertaining feats involving newspapers, numbers, borrowed bank notes, secret envelopes, and the world’s most impossible card tricks … His deft, dapper performance style is drawn from the very best traditions of vaudeville and refined variety theatre, and he shines in the role of Emcee.
David Kovac spent many years honing his performance skills in the dynamic city of Chicago; a destination rightly famous for it’s legit theatre, comedy and improv — and also the vibrant return of magic, burlesque and cabaret! Notable venues range from Second City, Millennium Park, and The Green Mill Jazz Club to The Museum of Contemporary Art, Mayne Stage and Navy Pier, where he presented over 1000 public shows. The Chicago Tribune named Mr. Kovac a “Trickster Hero,” and he has since become a popular personality at the famed Magic Castle in Hollywood.
In the roles of magical host and corporate spokesperson, David Kovac has appeared both nationally and internationally. His talents have also been featured in several memorable TV ad campaigns; juggling eggs for Perkins Restaurants, demonstrating super-sized sleight-of-hand for the U.S. Army, and playing a plaid-clad ventriloquist for On-Cor Frozen Foods. (He was also the Altoids Mime!) Recent professional travels include voyages to Australia, New Zealand, South America, the Caribbean, Western Europe, Japan, Singapore, and Malaysia as a guest entertainer with Crystal Cruises. He currently resides in Studio City, California.
